The authorities on Saturday collected Tk 5,78,09,325 after opening eight donation boxes at the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj.
This sum has shattered all previous fundraising records for the mosque.
Earlier at 9am, the donation boxes were opened in presence of Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Abul Kalam Azad, Superintendent of Kishoreganj Police Mohammad Russel Sheikh and Kishoreganj Additional District Magistrate Kazi Mahua Mantaz.

Around 200 people including 138 students of Pagla mosque madrasa, Assistant General Manager of Rupali Bank Rafiqul Islam and 59 bank staff
joined in the counting.
Alongside local currency, Dollar, Pound, Riyal, Diner and Ringgit were found in the donation boxes.

Earlier, on May 6, the authorities found cash Tk 5.59 crore in 19 sacks in the mosque.
At that time, the donation boxes were opened after 3 months and 6 days. But this time, the donation boxes opened after 3 months and 13 days.
