Terming the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh “normal”, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the government will take initiatives, including closure of educational institutions, considering the situation.
Quader came up with the remarks while briefing reporters at party’s central office in Dhaka.
He said the government has taken all necessary preparation to tackle the coronavirus situation.
Later, the ruling party leader distributed leaflets to raise awareness about COVID-19.
Death toll from coronavirus or COVID-19 reached 5,436 globally as of Saturday. Besides, 145,810 new cases were reported from around the world, according to worldometer.
Of them, 67,843 are currently infected while 72,531 patients have recovered.
