Six people, including one doctor and one nurse, have been sent on quarantine after they came in contact with an 18-year-old girl who was admitted to Chandpur General Hospital on Tuesday with fever, cough, sore throat and breathing complications.
The girl was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital at noon, said residential medical officer Dr AHM Sujauddowla Rubel.
Samples from the patient were collected and sent to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research through the civil surgeon office, he said.
One doctor, one nurse and another employee of the hospital as well as three relatives were sent on quarantine.
Civil Surgeon Dr Md Sakhawatullah said a total of 24 samples were sent to the IEDCR from Thursday to Monday. Of them, 17 tested negative and reports of others were yet to be found.
In the district, a total of 2,174 people are now in home-quarantine.
