Chandpur General Hospital to get oxygen plant
All necessary initiatives have been taken to install a dedicated medical oxygen generation plant at Chandpur General Hospital to meet the increasing demand for life-saving gas amid Covid-19 surge across the district.
The plant, funded by UNICEF, will have the capacity to supply 20 lakh millilitre of oxygen. The project will be implemented by Spectra International, under the direct supervision of the Health Ministry.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni is also providing her assistance and guidance implementing the project, hospital Supervisor Dr Md Habib Ul Karim told UNB.
"At present, we have to bring oxygen cylinders from Cumilla as per the demand. Access time and money is spent in the process. This plant will meet the current demand in the district as well as will keep a reserve for 5/6 months,” said the hospital super.
UNICEF in association with Spectra International will install oxygen plants in 25 districts across the country, he added.

Coronavirus: Girl, 14, tests positive after death in Chandpur
A 14-year-old girl, who died at the isolation ward of Chandpur General Hospital, was suffering from coronavirus, her test result showed on Saturday.
Civil Surgeon Dr Md Sakhawatullah said 14 people have so far been diagnosed with coronavirus in the district.
After testing the sample collected from the deceased girl, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Saturday confirmed that she was infected, said the Civil Surgeon.
Sharmin Akhter of Faridganj upazila died at the isolation ward of the hospital on Thursday.
Among the confirmed cases in the district, seven are from Sadar upazila, three from Matlab Uttar, three from Faridganj, and a 12-year-old of Haimchar upazila, said the sources of Civil Surgeon Office.
Altogether, 671 people are staying in home quarantine in the district, said the sources.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 140 deaths and 4,998 coronavirus cases.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana in the daily health bulletin on Saturday informed that coronavirus has spread to 60 districts in the country except Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Jhenidah and Satkhira.
Jhenidah reported its first two cases as per the results of the tests carried out at the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) laboratory on Saturday.
