Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra: Female-Led Malayalam Superhero Blockbuster
The highly talked-about ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has quickly turned heads across the industry. Since its release on August 28, 2025, the female-led South Indian spectacle has sparked waves of discussion. The superhero film is currently the third-highest-grossing Malayalam movie of the year. The premiere hasn’t even stayed confined to Kerala either. It’s already out in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada, which reflects just how determined the makers are to pitch this story to a wider audience. Let’s dive into how its story, cast, visuals, and spotlight come together on screen.
About Chandra and the Rise of a Superhero Cinematic Universe
Bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan through his own studio, Wayfarer Films, the movie comes from director Dominic Arun. Designed as the opening entry in the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe, it introduces Mollywood’s first structured attempt at a superhero franchise.
Kalyani Priyadarshan takes on the central role of Chandra, laying the foundation for what is intended to be a multi-chapter saga.
The lineup feels thoughtfully mixed; there’s Naslen, Arun Kurian, Sandy, Chandu Salimkumar, Raghunath Paleri, Nishanth Sagar, Sarath Sabha, Nithya Shri, and Vijayaraghavan holding the ground. Then viewers have got those fleeting but eye-catching appearances from Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas, and Sunny Wayne. And, of course, Mammootty’s voice in the narration adds that unmistakable gravitas.

Defining Superhero Milestone in Mollywood
The film distinguishes itself from other large-scale fantasy ventures not with sheer size but with its command over visual language. The pre-interval block is where the film flexes its muscles. Yannick Ben’s stunt direction lands with a kind of sharpness that feels deliberate, every move thought through, nothing tossed in just to dazzle.
The camera, guided by Nimish Ravi, keeps pace with that rhythm. At times it stretches wide, letting audiences take in the sweep of the moment, and then suddenly it’s right up close. It catches the smaller beats that stop the action from floating off into spectacle. Meanwhile, Jakes Bejoy’s score threads the whole thing together. He swings between hard-driving, heart-racing bursts and quieter passages that almost sit in the background but keep the tension alive. It feels at home in the superhero world, sure, but it doesn’t just imitate the usual formulas; it carves out a tone that feels distinctly its own.
Optimal Sync of Visual Spectacles with Screenplay
At its heart, the story follows a young woman who stumbles upon extraordinary powers while still caught in the messiness of her own personal battles. As a dark force rises, she is pushed toward embracing both her power and her fate.

Dominic Arun does more than just direct here; he also lays down the spine of the story, sharing writing duties with Santhy Balachandran. What they’ve built is not just spectacle but a layered world, folding in immortals, folklore, and present-day anxieties. That mix gives the fantasy a sense of weight, something rooted rather than drifting.
At times of surfacing cameos of major stars, they feel stretched, yet they remain tied to the story without completely distracting from Chandra’s arc. Their presence is also designed to feed into later installments, which makes early judgement difficult. What stands out is the writing of supporting characters, handled with restraint and dignity.
The filmmaking and editing never feel careless. Lighting, cuts, and pacing follow the mood of the scene rather than any formula, so the rhythm feels organic. There’s richness in the textures, but it never tips into indulgence. Visual polish stays in service of the story, not the other way around. The balance between spectacle and storytelling holds steady.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 2: Jenna Ortega Fronts Netflix's Star-Studded Mayhem
Netflix Original Series Wednesday is back, and it still knows how to pull that odd trick of being both creepy and funny at once. Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 aired on September 3, 2025, and picks up the story with more of that sly humour and the fleeting yet striking touches of dark horror. Jenna Ortega, unsurprisingly, continues to ground everything with that sharp, almost cutting presence of hers. The regular cast slides comfortably back into place, but what really keeps viewers leaning in are the new faces and the unexpected cameos. Let’s dive into a story that broadens its twisted scope while showcasing star performances at their finest.
Cast and Crew of Wednesday Season 2 Part 2
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar continue as creators and showrunners, extending their role into the executive production team. Part 2 consists of four episodes, matching the structure of Part 1 and completing the season with eight in total. Angela Robinson directed the opening two, while Tim Burton took charge of the closing pair, adding his unmistakable touch to the finale.
This part also marks a step forward for Jenna Ortega, who joins Carmen Pepelea as producer. Regulars Isaac Ordonez, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, and Luis Guzman remain central to the story. In Season 2 specials, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Joy Sunday, and Victor Dorobantu reprise their original characters.

Fresh arrivals include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah B. Taylor, Christopher Lloyd, and Thandiwe Newton. These additions stretch the world of Nevermore outward, giving the relationships more room to shift and complicate. The one who has been buzzing about most, of course, is Lady Gaga; she turns up as Rosaline Rotwood, a cryptic new teacher at the Academy.
Darker Set, Layered Plots, and Shocking Reveals
The final half of season two keeps up the same cocktail of biting humour, supernatural chaos, and yes, those dance moments that are practically designed to go viral. The scale is bigger this time – choreographed numbers, effects-heavy battles, and lots of visual dazzle. And while that’s undeniably entertaining, it sometimes comes at the cost of the smaller, more character-driven moments that made Nevermore’s world feel layered in the first place.
Amid the noise, key revelations shift the narrative toward a darker future. Aunt Ophelia Frump surfaces alive in Grandmama Hester’s basement. Wednesday regains fragments of her psychic abilities. Enid finally steps fully into her alpha werewolf role, even if it means standing apart to protect someone she cares about. The Hyde storyline wraps on a tragic note, and Thing gets an unexpected reimagining with an origin tied to Isaac Night.

Characters Over Plots: Familiar and New Faces
If anything, this second half thrives on its cameos and the steady return of old characters. The most daring swing is Gaga’s long-teased entrance as Rosaline Rotwood. She plays her as cool and unreadable, a presence that slots right into Nevermore’s atmosphere and reminds you she’s more than capable of commanding the screen outside the music stage.
Equally striking is the return of Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems. Now a spectral guide, she offers Wednesday sharp counsel as the character wrestles with lost powers. Christie’s scenes with Zeta-Jones have a quiet sharpness; their exchanges are among the most memorable of the season.
Christopher Lloyd also makes a mark as Professor Orloff, performing through little more than a floating head. There’s a short but powerful scene where he shares the frame with Agnes and Thing, and it quietly drives home the show’s running theme of belonging. It’s one of those fleeting but tender beats that stick with you. On the other end of the spectrum, Joanna Lumley’s Hester Frump bursts in with sharp timing and wit, a reminder that Wednesday never strays too far from its streak of dark playfulness.

The abundance of standout performances, however, leaves less room for others to grow. Billie Piper’s Isadora Capri finally receives more attention, though the shift feels uneven. Thandiwe Newton’s Dr. Rachael Fairburn, despite her potential, is quickly sidelined, a casualty of an overcrowded story.
Tim Burton's Directing Charisma Over Nevermore
The season’s closing half carries Tim Burton’s unmistakable directing prowess. The last two episodes really carry his stamp; he manages to let the grotesque and the mischievous live side by side, and somehow they don’t clash. Instead, they sit together comfortably, as if that uneasy mix is the show’s natural state. Episode 5 pushes the story toward its climax, while Episode 6 lingers on character depth. By Episodes 7 and 8, the threads tighten into larger arcs, resolved with Burton’s familiar gothic flourish.
Death, decay, and eccentricity remain his canvas, yet the show’s strength lies in how it embraces those risks. In doing so, Wednesday continues to celebrate the strange heart of the Addams family.

Setting Stage for Season 3: What Lies Ahead
Even with its crowded storyline, the season narrows to the bonds at its center, Wednesday, Enid, and their family. Those moments cut through the chaos and suggest sharper, more unsettling turns ahead as Season 3 takes shape.
The next chapter is expected to build on the sharp turns of Season 2 while leading Wednesday into even stranger, riskier territory.
Netflix has already confirmed the renewal, though no timeline has been set. Production has yet to begin, and the creators remain silent on filming details.

In a Nutshell
Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 delivers on fan expectations, with the story anchored by a compelling performance from Jenna Ortega. The horror creation of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar sharpens its edge through striking direction and eerie worldbuilding. Twists and shocking reveals keep the narrative unpredictable and engaging. But the crowded cast, even with Lady Gaga’s debut, sometimes overshadows smaller roles. Still, it didn’t push the show away from being Netflix’s most hyped horror series.

Court dismisses plea against Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3
A division bench of Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice Brij Raj Singh watched the teaser and trailers of Jolly LLB 3 and ruled that there was nothing objectionable in them.
The petitioner, Jay Vardhan Shukla, had argued that the film shows the legal profession in a bad light. He said the teaser and trailer, which are widely shared on social media, have already influenced lawyers and harmed the image of the judiciary. According to him, the negative portrayal discourages people from joining the legal profession and misguides law students, which could affect the future of the justice system.
Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey replied that the petitioner had not complained to the proper authority before coming to court. He also pointed out that under the 2021 IT Rules, anyone unhappy with online content should first approach the platform or publisher. The court agreed with this argument and dismissed the petition.
Earlier, a Pune Civil Court had summoned actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi after another petition claimed that Jolly LLB 3 shows lawyers and judges in a disrespectful way. The film is scheduled to release on September 19.
The Jolly LLB franchise began in 2013 with Arshad Warsi playing the lead role of lawyer Jagdish Tyagi, known as Jolly. The film told the story of his fight for justice for six innocent workers and exposed corruption in the judiciary. The second part, released in 2017, featured Akshay Kumar as lawyer Jagdishwar Mishra, with Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor, Kumud Mishra, and Saurabh Shukla, who returned from the first film.

‘Ketamine Queen’ pleads guilty to selling fatal dose to Matthew Perry
A woman known as the “Ketamine Queen” pleaded guilty Wednesday to selling the drug that killed actor Matthew Perry. She became the fifth and final defendant to admit guilt in the case.
Jasveen Sangha, 42, a citizen of both the U.S. and U.K., admitted to five federal charges, including providing the fatal ketamine dose. She faces up to 65 years in prison when sentenced on December 10, though prosecutors said they will recommend less than the maximum.
Sangha was portrayed by prosecutors as a major drug dealer with wealthy clients. In court, she admitted her role while standing beside her lawyer, Mark Geragos. Perry’s mother Suzanne Perry and stepfather, journalist Keith Morrison, were present for the first time during the proceedings.
The actor, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023. The medical examiner ruled ketamine overdose as the primary cause of death.
Sangha’s guilty plea followed earlier deals by four others, including doctors and a middleman, who also admitted involvement in supplying drugs. Perry had been legally using ketamine for depression but sought extra supplies, leading him to Sangha through a friend.
According to prosecutors, Perry bought 25 vials for $6,000 in cash just four days before his death.
Sangha has been in custody for nearly a year, while the other defendants remain free on bond.

Param Sundari Box Office Collection Day 5: Janhvi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra's movie reaches Rs 34.25 cr
The film experienced a slight increase in earnings on Tuesday, helped by discounted ticket prices, bringing its total domestic box office collection to Rs 34.25 crore.
On Sunday, the movie earned Rs 10.25 crore, following Rs 7.25 crore on Friday and Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday, according to Sacnilk data.
Janhvi Kapoor’s previous theatrical release, Ulajh, collected Rs 11.05 crore.
Sidharth Malhotra’s last film Yodha did not perform well but earned Rs 35.74 crore, while Thank God, featuring both Ajay Devgn and Sidharth, grossed Rs 36.35 crore.
In addition to films, Sidharth made his OTT debut with Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force on Amazon Prime.
Before the release, Param Sundari attracted attention due to alleged resemblances to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express. Janhvi Kapoor also faced criticism from a Malayali actress and influencer regarding her accent in the movie.
Responding to these claims, Janhvi said in a recent interview, “My character is from Kerala, and not everyone from the South can be generalized. This film presents a different setting, and it's not a repetitive storyline. While 2 States had similarities with Chennai Express, it released after that film, and such films aren't made every year. People aren’t comparing us to something insignificant; Chennai Express was iconic with legendary actors and characters.”
