Brahmanbaria, May 30 (UNB) – Two suspected robbers were killed in a lynch-mob attack at Durgapur in Ashuganj upazila early Thursday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Makbul Hossain, assistant superintendent of Brahmanbaria Police, said a group of robbers swooped on the house of Habibur Rahman in the dead of night and tried to loot valuables after keeping the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
As the inmates tried to resist the robbers they beat them up, leaving Sanaullah Mia, 40, Rahul Mia, 25 and Priti Akter injured.
Hearing screams from the house, local people rushed to the spot and caught two of the robbers while the other gang members managed to flee.
Later, the robbers were given a good thrashing, leaving them injured.
On information, police rescued the robbers and took them to a local hospital where doctors declared them dead.
