Barguna, Feb 25 (UNB) – Four members of a family went missing after around 16 small fishing boats capsized in the Payra River in Taltali upazila early Monday after being caught in a storm.
The victims are Salam Majhi, 55, his two sons Joynal, 22 and Aynal, 20, and son-in-law Solaiman, 28, of Tetulbaria in the upazila.
General Secretary of Taltali Fishermen Association Alam Member said the fishing boats sank in the river on the estuary of the Bay of Bengal in the early hours while a group of around 20 fishermen were catching fish.
Sixteen of the fishermen managed to swim ashore while the rest four went missing, he said.
Contacted, Lt Col Nur Jamal of Bangladesh Coast Guard Bhola office said they were trying to rescue the missing fishermen.
