With this, a total of 200 illegal establishments were demolished and 10 acres of land were reclaimed in the five days, said sources at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
On Friday, the drive was conducted on both sides of Anu Majhirghat in Paschim Motherbari area from 9am to 5pm.
District administration magistrates Tahmilur Rahman Mukta and Towhidur Islam separately led the drive.
Tahmilur said around 200 illegal establishments were dismantled in the last five days. “As a result, the entries of five canals have been freed,” he said.
The drive was conducted with the assistance of Chittagong City Corporation, Chittagong Development Authority, Fire Service, Karnaphuli Gas Authority, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Rapid Action Battalion and police.
Around 100 workers took part in the demolition work.
