Pabna, Feb 5 (UNB) – A suspected drug trader sustained bullet injuries in an alleged gunfight with police at Chatiani Paschimpara in the Sadar upazila early Tuesday.
The injured is Apple Sheikh, 42, son of Somsher Sheikh. He is accused in nine drugs-related cases, police said.
Gautam Kumar Biswas, additional superintendent of Pabna police, said they raided the area after being tipped off about a drug deal. “As soon our team reached the spot, the drug traders opened fire, triggering a skirmish,” he said.
Apple, injured in the gunfight, was arrested and taken to Pabna General Hospital, the police officer said.
A pistol, a magazine, eight bullets, a machete and five grams of heroin were found on him. Three policemen were also injured in the gunfight, Gautam said.
