Benapole, Feb 23 (UNB) – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized huge numbers of India-made smuggled imitation jewelry from Sadipur border early Sunday.
Being informed that a consignment of imitation jewelry was being smuggled from India, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the bordering area, said Major Nazrul Islam, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion.
Sensing their presence, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind the goods.
Later, the BGB team recovered the jewelry worth Tk 8.45 lakh and a case was filed with Benapole Police Station in this regard.
