Benapole, Feb 05 (UNB) – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday arrested a man along with 17 gold bars at Putkhali border in Benapole.
The arrestee was identified as Sahabuddin Sardar, 34, son of Mobarak Sardar of Putkhali village.
Lieutenant Colonel Imran Ullah Sarkar of BGB Battalion 21 said acting on a tip-off they conducted a drive Putkhali border around 12:30pm and held the man along with the gold bars and his motorcycle while he was trying to smuggle the gold to India.
The market price of the seized gold bars would be approximately tk 90 lakh, he added.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police in this regard, he said.
