Islamic University, Jan 26 (UNB) – Islamic University students on Saturday demanded election to their union.
A group of students, led by IU Chhatra Moitri President Morshed Habib and its secretary Abdur Rauf, submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari demanding Islamic University Central Students’ Union polls.
They urged IU authorities to take initiatives to arrange IUCSU election.
Habib said the IUCSU election was a must “to ensure a democratic atmosphere on the campus.”
IU VC Askari told UNB that they would consider the matter in future, adding that there was no provision for election to the students’ body in their university act.
