The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) announced the winners in categories including banks, financial services, insurance companies, manufacturing, ICT, NGOs, public sector entities, agriculture, and corporate governance.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the awards as the chief guest at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. ICAB has been holding this event since 2001.
Chairman of Financial Reporting Council (FRC) CQK Mustaq Ahmed, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Finance Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder, Financial Institutions Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam and Commerce Ministry Secretary Md Mofizul Islam, among others, took part in the event.
A nine-member jury reviewed the recommended list of recipients.
The three best annual reports selected under each category were nominated by ICAB to compete in the SAFA forum next year in recognition of their excellence in financial disclosure.
In Banking Sector (Private) category, Bank Asia Limited secured the first prize, BRAC Bank Limited came in second and Dutch Bangla Bank Limited got the third prize.
In the Financial Service category, IDLC Finance Limited won the first prize, Lanka Bangla Finance Ltd won the second and IPDC Finance Limited won the third prize.
In Manufacturing, British American Tobacco, Bangladesh won the first prize, GSK Bangladesh won second prize and Premier cement and ORION Pharma were the joint third prize winners.
Green Delta Insurance Company Limited won the first prize, Prime Insurance Ltd second and Reliance Insurance Ltd third prize in Insurance category.
BRAC came out on top in the NGO category. Sajida Foundation and Uddipan jointly won the second prize and Buro Bangladesh got the third prize.
Grameenphone Limited was the only winner in Communication and Information Technology category. In Public Sector Entities category, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh became the first prize winner, Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited and Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) won the second and third prizes respectively.
Only Golden Harvest Agro Industries Limited was given the award in the Agriculture category.
In Corporate Governance disclosures, IDLC won the first prize, Lanka Bangla Finance Ltd won second and British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Bank Asia Ltd & Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd jointly won the third prize.
In the Integrated Reporting category, IDLC Finance Limited received the first prize, BRAC second and Bank Asia Ltd & Islami Bank Ltd jointly won the third prize.
Besides, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd, Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd, RAK, BSRM Steels Ltd, Marico Bangladesh Ltd, Union Capital, Prime Bank Ltd, and Mercantile Bank Ltd received Certificates of Merit in different categories.
