Dhaka, Dec 21 (UNB) - President Abdul Hamid’s elder sister Sigira Khatun (Purushkar Nesa) died of old-age complication on Friday. She was 82.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB that Sigira breathed her last at her residence at Islampur village in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj around 12 noon.
She left behind one son, seven daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
Later, she was buried at the family graveyard following a namz-e-janaza at the Mithamoin Club field after Juma prayers.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Sagira Khatun, Joynal said.
