Dhaka, Feb 12 (UNB) – A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Gopibagh Railgate area here early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Shanto, 18.
Being informed that a gang of robber was taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, police conducted a drive there around 11:30 pm Monday, said Sub-inspector Mofiz Uddin of Wari Police Station.
When the team reached there, the robbers swooped on the law enforcers, prompting them to fire back that triggered the gunfight.
The gunfight left Shanto injured with bullet while two policemen sustained injuries.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 7 am.
Besides, police also arrested a robber from the spot.
