Replying to Central Zone’s first innings total of 282 all out in 74.5 overs featuring an unbeaten 141 by two down Abdul Mazid, Prime Bank South Zone resumed the first innings with their overnight 29 for no loss and were all out for 281 runs in 87.1 overs to trail by just one run in the first innings.
One down Fazle Mahmud contributed 94 runs off 194 balls featuring 13 boundaries, overnight batsman Shahriar Nafees (15) scored 124-ball 71 runs featuring 12 fours, another overnight batsman Anamul Haque (9) made 44-ball 31 with five fours while tail-ender batsman-cum-national pacer Rubel Hossain fired 52-ball 30 runs hitting three fours and a six for the Prime Bank.
Veteran spinner Mosharraf Hossain grabbed four wickets for 53 runs while Shahidul Islam and Robiul Haque took two wickets each conceding 28 and 72 runs respectively.
In reply, Walton Central Zone opened the 2nd innings in the afternoon and scored two runs for no loss in two overs with Liton Das and Saif Hassan batting with two runs and zero respectively to take a three-run lead over Prime Bank South Zone.
In the other league match at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Islami Bank East Zone were trailing by 320 runs against BCB North Zone on the 2nd day of the four-day affairs on Thursday.
BCB North Zone resumed the first innings with overnight total of 335 for 2 in 81 overs and piled up a huge total of 445 runs for all in 112.1 overs featuring 239 runs in the 3rd wicket stand by two centuries by Naeem Islam and Jahurul Islam.
Naeem Islam, who was in batting on 111 runs, finally contributed 137 runs off 246 balls hitting 16 boundaries, number five Jahurul Islam (100) made 104 runs in 163 balls featuring 15 boundaries, apart from opener Mizanur Rahman’s 92 runs off 124 balls with 13 fours.
Hasan Mahmud claimed four wickets for 84 runs, spinner Enamul Haque Junior picked up three wickets for 122 runs while national coloured pacer Abu Jayed Rahi took two for 81 runs.
In reply, Islami Bank East Zone opened the first innings and scored 125 for 4 in 36 overs with Rony Talukder scoring 54, Shamsur Rahman and Tasamul Haque 24 runs each.
Sunzamul Islam and Ebadat Hossain grabbed two wickets each giving away 17 and 26 runs respectively.
