Two people were killed and another one injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Mollabari in Sadar upazila of Pirojpur district on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Riad Kazi, 20, son of Kamal Kazi and Shaheen, 30. The accident occurred in the area around 6 pm when the Mathbaria-bound bus of ‘Rajib Paribahan’ fell into the ditch as its driver lost control over steering, leaving three people injured, said Abdus Sobhan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station. 2 killed in Bagerhat road accident The injured were taken to Pirojpur District Hospital where the doctors declared Riad and Shaheen dead.  

A 22-year-old man was killed and three others injured in a clash between two factions of Jubo Dal over dominance in the Shekherchar area of Narsingdi on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Manjur Mia, son of Abdur Rashid from Poulanpur village of Madhobdi Thana, said Gobindo Sarker, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Madhobdi Police Station. The identities of the injured individuals are yet to be confirmed. Police said that the clash stemmed from a dispute between Akram Hossain, senior joint secretary of Meherpara Union Jubo Dal, and Jubo Dal leader Baokhtiar, from the same union, over control of Shekerchar (Baburhat) Bazar and the local cable business. Supporters of both groups clashed and opened fire around 8:30 pm, resulting in the death of Manjur and injuries to three others. A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Mymensingh for selling fake medical college admission test questions. The arrestee is Nazmul Ehsan Nayeem, a first-year mathematics student at Ananda Mohan College. He is the son of Zahurul Islam from Bhurarbari village in Sarishabari, Jamalpur, said Additional Superintendent of Mymensingh Police Mohaimenul Islam at a press conference at the district police headquarters on Thursday. A fake question paper was also shared in the post. Suspecting this to be a scam, we initiated an investigation,” said the addl SP. Nayeem had reportedly bought an old mobile phone from Alka Nodi Bangla Saima Telecom, used it to create a WhatsApp account, and contacted prospective medical students, offering fake questions for a fee. He admitted to defrauding others by providing them with fake questions and receiving payments via WhatsApp and the mobile banking service, bKash. Two people, including a three-wheeler trolley driver, were killed and four others injured as the vehicle carrying them overturned in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat early Thursday. The deceased were named as driver Didar Mollah, 30, son of Jafar Mollah of Khulna’s Dacope upazila and day labour Rokan Uddin, 60, son of Wazed Ali Sheikh of Sonaitala village under Mongla upazila. The injured are Wahed Mollick, Ayub Sardar, Milon Mallick, and Tajmir Sheikh. Wahed was undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College and Hospital and the trio at Mongla Upazila Health Complex. The father of a local Jubo Dal leader died in gunfire at his residence in Rajshahi's Paba upazila early Wednesday. The deceased, Md Alauddin, 60, was the father of Salahuddin Mintu, a member of the convening committee of the Nowhata Municipality unit of Jubo Dal.  India’s BSF hands over detained Bangladeshi Mintu said that there had been a financial dispute between two groups in their area, and in an attempt to resolve the matter, both parties met at the Airport Police Station on Tuesday night. "One of the individuals involved was a follower of mine, and after the dispute was settled, he returned home. However, around 1:30 am, the house came under random gunfire. A bullet entered through the door and struck my father’s waist. He was immediately admitted to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital," Mintu said. He said, "10-12 people came in front of the house. They were all drug peddlers. They opened fire." Two bodies recovered from Dakatia River in Chandpur Dr. Sankar K. Biswas, a medical officer and spokesperson for RMC, said that the bullet, which had lodged in Alauddin's waist, caused damage to his kidney. Despite efforts to remove the bullet during surgery, Alauddin succumbed to his injuries around 2:40 pm on Wednesday. Faruk Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajshahi Airport Police Station, confirmed that the incident took place in the Shah Makhdum Police Station area, which is now investigating the case.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over a Bangladeshi national to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Wednesday, a day after he was detained from Beurjhari border area in Thakurgaon's Baliadangi upazila. Sheikh Alimur Rahman, 42, of Khulna was handed over to the BGB through a flag meeting around 6:30 pm, said Lt Col Tanvir Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-50. Flag meeting held between BGB and BSF over Fencing at Naogaon border Earlier, a flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF members regarding the issue, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. On Tuesday night, BSF members detained Alimul Rahman about 300 yards inside Indian territory near pillar No. 380/4-S.

Police recovered the bodies of two elderly men from the Dakatia River in two separate locations in Chandpur on Wednesday. One of the deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam Gazi, 72, son of the late Ashraf Ali Gazi of Bagadi village of Chandpur Sadar Upazila. The other man's identity remains unknown, but he is estimated to be 55 years old, said AKSM Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Chandpur River Police Station. Police and Coast Guard personnel recovered Sirajul’s body from the Dakatia River in the Icholi area of Chandpur around noon. Probe launched after 2 patients die following alleged wrong treatment in Kishoreganj "The body appears to be 7–8 days old and has injuries, including stab marks on the back of the head and a severed leg vein. We are investigating the matter,” said the OC. According to local UP member Mosharraf Hossain, Sirajul had returned to Bangladesh after living abroad for many years and had been residing at home. Relatives said Sirajul went missing about a week ago while travelling to the town from his home. His disappearance was reported in newspapers and circulated on social media. Meanwhile, In the Shahrasti area of Chandpur, around 3 pm, local resident Abdul Khaleque discovered a man's body floating in the river while fishing and informed the police. 35-year-old dies in Jhenaidah road accident "The body has no injury marks but appears bloated and partially decomposed, suggesting it had been in the water for about ten days," said Abdul Bashar, OC of Shahrasti Police Station. A PBI team reached the spot and started an investigation, he said. The body was sent to the Chandpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.

A five-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the deaths of two patients at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital in Kishoreganj, reportedly due to alleged "wrong treatment" on Wednesday. Hospital authorities have also withdrawn the nurse involved in the incident, which has sparked outrage among the patients' families and locals. According to hospital sources, Maniruzzaman Mallik, 32, a kindergarten teacher from Dhuldia village in Katiadi upazila, was admitted for hernia treatment. Zahirul Islam, 22, from Noapara village in Nikli upazila, had been admitted on January 12 for severe stomach pain. Both patients were scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. Tragically, within 5-10 minutes of receiving the injections, both individuals died on the spot. This apparent deviation from medical protocol has raised serious questions about negligence. Outraged by the deaths, relatives of the victims staged a protest at the hospital, demanding the harshest punishment for those responsible. Three people, including a woman, have been arrested from Moulvibazar in connection with the murder of Golam Rabbani Tipu, a former councillor of the Khulna City Corporation.                        The arrestees are Ritu,24, daughter of Md. Selim Akand of Dewan Mollapara in Khulna, Sheikh Shahriar Islam Pappu ,27, son of Jamal Sheikh from the same area and Golam Rasul, 25, son of Md. Haidar Sardar Adu of Madhya Karigarpara. The accused chose Cox's Bazar as a suitable place to carry out the murder, said Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police Rahmat Ullah at a press briefing on Wednesday. The police super said Sheikh Shahriar Islam Pappu, nephew of Huji Shahidul, an extremist leader of the Purba Banglar Communist Party in Khulna, planned the murder to avenge the 2013 killing of his uncle. At least 26 rooms of three Eco-resorts at Galachipa on Saint Martin's Island were gutted in a fire which broke out early Tuesday. Tourists remained unhurt in the fire incident. Mujibur Rahman, chairman of Saint Martin's union parisahd, said the fire broke out in a room of Shayari Eco Resort around 2:10 am and spread to the adjacent Beach Valley and Kingshuk Eco Resort. The hospitality room of Shayari Eco Resort, 18 rooms of Beach Valley and seven rooms of Kingshuk Eco Resort were gutted. The blaze was brought under control around 4 am with the help of local residents, tourists and law enforcers, he said. The fire spread fast due to wind, said local people.
