Yonex Int'l Badminton: Gagan emerges men's singles, Surya women's singles champions
Two Indian shuttlers--Gagan Balyan and Surya Charisma Tamiri --emeregd men's and women's singles champions in the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International (Badminton) Series that concluded on Thursday (December 15) at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium here
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam MP was the chief guest at the day's closing function and later he distributed the prizes.
Gagan clinched the men's singles crown beating his compatriot Anishraj Rajkumar by 21-19, 21-18 point in the final while Surya lifed the women's singles title beating her countrymate Navya Kanderi ny 21-18. 21-20 point in the final.
The men's doubles title also went to Indian pair Venkata Uneeth Krishna and Shashank Chhetri, who beat another Indian pair Charan Ganesh Anupoju and Mohith Kothapalli by 19-21, 21-15, 21-14 point in the final.
However, Bangladeshi pair Nasima Khatun and Smrity Rajbongshi won the women's doubles title of the meet defeating their compatriot Mathena Madhurjya Biswas and Sheikh Pretha partner by 21-18, 10-21. 21-15 point in all Bangladesh final.
Indian partner Vignesh Thathineni and Rashmitha Donepudi clnched the mixed doubles crown beating their Bangladeshi rivals Nazmul Islam Joy and Nasima Khatun by 21-6, 21-13 points in the event's final.

V Day Handball: BGB retain men's title, Ansar women's
Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar & VDP team retained the men's and women's titles of the Victory Day Handball Tournament'2022 eliminating their rivals in the finals at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Thursday.
Former Rajuk chairman and former vice president of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Abdur Rahman witnessed the day's final as the chief guest and later he distributed the trophies at the closing function, chaired by BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
Border Guard Bangladesh clinched the men's crown for the 5th time, four time in a row, beating their traditional rivals Bangladesh Ansar & VDP team by 32-26 goal in the final Thursday afternoon. The match was locked in 12-12 goal in the first half.

World swimming: Bangladesh swimmers Asif, Sonia eliminated in 100-metre freestyle heats
Two Bangladeshi swimmers – M Asif Reza and Sonia Akter Tumpa – were eliminated in the heats in men's and women's 100-metre freestyle of the 16th FINA World Swimming Championship in Australia's Melbourne Wednesday.
In the day's event, Asif's 52.91 seconds was his best time. But, with a time of 01:05.05 seconds, Sonia could not exceed her best time – 1:04.55 seconds.
However, they will compete in their next event of 50-metre freestyle swimming on Friday.

A three-member swimming team, including coach and team manager Rezaul Hossain Badsha, is now representing Bangladesh at FINA. It will return home on December 20.

V Day Handball: BGB, Ansar reach men's final
Defending champions Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar & VDP tean reached the men's final of the Victory Day Handball Tournament' 2022 eliminating their rivals at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Wednesday.
In the women's section, Holders Bangladesh Ansar & VDP and Badalgachi Handball Association qualified for the final beating their rivals at the same venue this afternoon.
Both the men's and women's finals and the prize distribution ceremony of the meet will be held on Thursday (December 15) afternoon at the same venue.

Bangladesh Ansar & VDP team will play Badalgachi Handball Association in the women's final at 1 pm while Border Guard Bangladesh will face Ansar & VDP team in the men's final at 3 pm.

Bangabandhu 47th National Chess Championship begins on Thursday
The Bangabandhu 47th National Chess Championship 2022, organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation under the financial support of Abul Khair Group, begins on Thursday (December 15) from 3 pm at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall-Room here.
The number drawing ceremony and technical meeting of the meet will be held on Wednesday.
A total 14 players are taking part in this year's Bangabandhu 47th National Chess Championship-2022 on round robin league system.
Four of them ---reigning national chess champion GM Enamul Hossain Razib, runner-up GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Niaz Murshed and GM Reefat Bin Sattar are directly playing in the meet.

Bangladesh Ansar & VDP and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) maintained their all-win run in the Victory Day Handball (Men's and Women's) Tournament' 2022 beating their rivals on the 2nd day of the meet at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Tuesday.BGB, which made a good start outplaying Team Handball, Dhaka by 38-11 goals in the men's inaugural match on Monday. today (Tuesday) beat Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 33-25 goals after dominating the first half 17-11 this morning at the same venue.In the day's other men's group match, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP team also registered their 2nd consecutive victory outplaying Team Handball, Dhaka by 35-16 goals after leading the first half by 23-11 goals Tuesday afternoon.Earlier on Monday, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP men's team made a good start beating Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 38-30 goals after leading the first half 15-13 goals at the same venue.In the day's women's group match, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP also earned 2nd successive victory defeating Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 28-16 goals after dominating the first half by 12-9 goals Tuesday afternoon.

BGB make good start to Victory Day Handball
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) made a good start to the Victory Day Handball (Men's and Women's) Tournament 2022, beating Team Handball Dhaka by 38-11 goals in the men's group Monday.
At the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital, BGB led the first half 19-4.

In the morning, actor Abul Hayat inaugurated the competition at a ceremony as the chief guest, with Bangladesh Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor in the chair.
In the day's other men's group match, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP beat Bangladesh Police Handball Club 38-30 after leading the first half 15-13 at the same venue in the afternoon.
In the women's group, Ansar and VDP defeated Badalgachhi Handball Association 23-15 after dominating the first session 16-8 at the same venue.

Cultural personality, popular actor and sports lover Engineer Abdul Hayat will inaugurate the tournament as chief guest Monday morning at a function to be chaired by BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.

Yonex International Badminton: 3 Bangladesh pairs reach men's doubles pre-quarterfinals
Three Bangladesh pairs reached the men's doubles pre-quarterfinals of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International (Badminton) Challenge 2022 beating their rivals in the round of 32 at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium Thursday.
National player Rahat Ul Nayeem paired with Md Mizanoor Rahman to beat Kanjanakeereewong and Vichayapong Laotherdpong Narueset of Thailand by 21-18, 21-17 points.
Also, Bangladeshi pair Md Nazmul Islam and Md Nishan Uddin beat their Indian rivals Umang Kaushik and Bhawesh Pandey by 21-16, 21-19 points.

Yonex-Sunrise Int'l Badminton Challenge begins Wednesday
The Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International (Badminton) Challenge' 2022, begins on Wednesday (December 7) at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium, adjacent to Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
Minister for Textile and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi MP will inaugurate the meet Wednesday morning, organised by Bangladesh Badminton Federation, under the supervision of Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia.
Secretary to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mesbahuddin will also present as special guest. Former parliament member and Managing Director of China-Bangla Ceremic Industries Sirajul Islam Mollah will also present at the function to be chaired by BBF president and Information Commissioner Dr Abdul Malek.

Some 251 shutters, including 108 women from 17 countries will compete in the meet, a regular International Badminton competition of Bangladesh.
Participating countries are: India, Thailand, Turkiye, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia. Canada, Mongolia. Indonesia, Bahrain, Japan, Maldives, Iran, Germany, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and hosts Bangladesh will compete in the meet.
