Sculptors were seen busy giving final touches to the idols of Durga and other deities.
Of the total mandaps, 73 were installed in the city, 156 in Muradnagar upazila, 91 in Debidwar, 86 in Barura, 74 in Chandina, 55 in Daudkandi, 47 in Homna, 39 in Burichang, 34 in Laksham, 30 in SadarDakkhin, 26 in Chouddagram , 17 in Manoharganj, 15 each in Lalmai and Titash, 14 in Brahmanpara, eight in Nangolkot and six in Meghnaupazilas of the district.
Durga Puja begins on October 4 and will end on October 8 through the immersion of idols in rivers or water bodies across the country.
President of the Puja Udjapon committee Tapan Boxi, said the committee has taken various programmes to celebrate Durga Puja and law enforcing agencies have taken necessary steps for ensuing smooth celebration of puja in the district.
Azimul Ahsan, additional superintendent of Cumilla police, said a three-tier security has been taken ahead of the Durga Puja.
