A total of 18,328 people have been arrested till June 10 in a nationwide special operation launched on May 1, according to Bangladesh Police Headquarters.
Among those arrested, 13,020 were alleged smugglers and drug traffickers, while 2,211 were identified as muggers, robbers and dacoits.

Some 1,958 of the arrestees were accused of creating instability, planning such activities or assisting them.
Besides, 808 alleged extortionists and terrorists were arrested during the ongoing drive.
A total of 331 illegal arms holders were also detained during the period in question, according to the Police Headquarters.
