A young man who was shot allegedly by members of a “teen gang” in Dhaka’s Lalbagh area last week died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.
Victim Md Rafi Hossain, 26, was a resident of Shaheed Nagar in Lalbagh.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said Rafi succumbed to his injuries in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the morning. He had been admitted to the hospital with bullet wounds on May 14.

Following legal procedures, the body was sent to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, he added.
Earlier, the incident took place around 8:15pm on May 14 in the third alley of Shaheed Nagar.
Abdus Sattar, brother-in-law of the deceased, alleged that several local teenagers, including Emon, Shahabuddin, Rezaul and Mintu, had asked Rafi about the whereabouts of a person named Shahin.
When he failed to provide information, they allegedly beat him and later shot him in the ribs before fleeing the scene.
Rafi, son of Md Taizuddin, was involved in online T-shirt sales and lived with his family in the area.
