Road, Transport and Bridge minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said that having failed in their political movement, BNP now chose the path of devastating the country’s economy.
He made the remarks while briefing reporters at the party president's political office at Dhanmondi in the capital this afternoon.
Obaidul Quader said BNP is now carrying out hidden attacks, sabotage, and vandalism of vehicles.
“This is a success for the government that people have become election-centric. It is impossible to ruin or spoil the election through these hidden attacks. Election will be held on time as per the constitution,” he added.

While talking about BNP’s more severe programmes, the Awami League General Secretary said there are no examples of more severe programmes in the world than what BNP has done yet – torching buses, killing a sleeping driver in a parked bus, hartal, blockade- a repeat of 2013/14.
“What can be a more severe programme than sabotage?” the Awami League leader asked.
Mentioning that BNP still has a chance to take part in the election, Quader said, “We cannot say it in one word that BNP won’t participate in the election… Although the BNP might not come in the election as allies, there are many in the BNP who are preparing for election.”

He said they (Awami League) are not welcoming the comments of foreign countries on the election. They are only paying heed to an election according to the constitution.
Regarding the parliamentary nominations today, Obaidul Quader said that nominations have been finalized in four divisions so far.
“If not possible tomorrow, the list of the candidates of Awami League for 300 constituencies will be published on Sunday,” Quader added.
About the collecting nomination paper of cricketer Shakib Al Hasan from Awami League, the minister said many heroes and heroines of India’s West Bengle are members of parliament. They also don't do politics directly.
“Shakib Al Hasan will do politics and serve the people. He can compete anywhere in Bangladesh,” he said.
