Biker killed as truck runs over him in Dinajpur
A 50-year-old biker was killed after police said a speeding truck ran over him in the Dosh Mile area Friday.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain from the Bangibechaghat area of Dinajpur Sadar upazila, Sub-Inspector Noni Gopal of Dinajpur Highway Police said.

"The accident occurred around 12:30pm as Anwar was on his way to a wedding. He fell on the road after being hit by a battery-run easy bike, he added. "Anwar died at the scene when the truck ran over him."

Biker, pillion rider dead in Kushtia road accident
A biker and his pillion rider were dead as the motorcycle carrying them collided with a trolley in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as motorcycle rider Irfan, 34, and Ashiq, 24, of the district.

The accident occurred around 9:30 pm when the motorcycle collided with the goods-laden trolley in Shyamnagar market area of the upazila, leaving the duo seriously injured, said Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman.
They succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital, he added.
The bodies were sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue.

Police seized the trolley. However, the driver fled the scene immediately, said the OC.

Biker, pillion rider killed in Hatirjheel road crash
Two people including a motorcyclist were killed in a road accident in the city's Hatirjheel area on Monday.
The deceased were identified as pillion rider Fahim Hossain ,20, and motorcyclist Mohammad Mamun,25.
The accident occured around 10:15 am when the motorcycle ploughed through the island after the motorcyclist lost his control near Madhubagh intersection , said sub-inspector (SI) Sajib of Hatirjheel police station.

Mamun died on the spot. Rider Fahim was taken to Dhaka Medical College hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries later, he said.
Talking to reporters at DMCH, Fahim's uncle Kabir Hossain said he was son of Mizan Hossain (CNG autorickshaw driver) of Bagh Srirampur village under Kachua upazila in Chadpur district.
The two bodies were kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.

Biker killed in road crash on Sajek road
A motorcyclist was killed on Friday after a head-on collision with a speeding truck in Rangamati's Baghaichhari, police said.
The deceased was identified as Dhanmoni Chakma, 30, son of Shanti Ranjan Chakma of Brij Para area.
The accident occurred at around 9 am when the truck collided with Dhanmoni's motorcycle at Atmail area on the Sajek-Machalang road leaving him dead on the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Sajek Police Station Nurul Alam said that the truck driver managed to flee after the accident but police and army seized the truck.

According to the locals, at least 20 people, including tourists were injured in four road accidents in the hilly area last week.
Nayan Chakma, chairman of Sajek Union Parishad urged increasing surveillance of law enforcement agencies on Sajek road to prevent accidents.

Biker killed, pillion rider injured in Dhaka road accident
A 27-year-old biker returning home died while his friend riding pillion sustained injuries in a collision with a speeding truck in the Jahangir Gate area of the capital in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Nayeem, son of Abu Taher, a resident of the city's Dakshinkhan area.

Police said the accident occurred between Jahangir Gate and Mohakhali Flyover around 1.30 am. The impact of the crash was such that Nayeem died on the spot. His friend, Mehedi, sustained injuries in the accident.
Nayeem was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His friend, is currently undergoing treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.

Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge (inspector) of the police outpost at DMCH, said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Biker killed in road crash in Thakurgaon
A 35-year-old biker was killed in a head-on collision with a local public transport vehicle on the busy Ranisankail-Nekmorod highway in Thakurgaon on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Khokon, son of freedom fighter Abdul Motaleb of Moholbari village.
Fire service sources said that on his way to Ranisankail, Khokon lost control over his speeding bike and collided head-on with a bhatvati (local transport) coming from the opposite direction on Monday night.

A critically injured Khokon was rushed to Ranishankail Health Complex by firefighters, where duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.
SM Zahid Iqbal, inspector of Ranisankail Police Station, said they had seized the bhatvati and detained its driver. "No written complaint has been filed by the family of the deceased so far. After receiving a complaint, legal action will be taken."

Biker killed in Magura road crash
A 50-year-old biker was killed in a road crash in the Bhabobhati area of Magura on Monday afternoon, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Subodh Kumar Shikdar, a resident of Shibrampur village under Magura municipality. He was a muhuri (deed writer) with the Arpara registry office.

Locals found him lying unconscious in the middle of the road. He was immediately rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
A case has been filed at the Magura police station. "The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy," said acting OC of Magura police station Monjorul Alam.

Another ride-sharing biker sets bike on fire to protest “police excesses”
In the second such incident in about a month, a ride-sharing biker set fire to his vehicle as a traffic police ‘attempted to fine him’ at Palashi intersection in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
Confirming it, MM Morshed, officer-in-charge of Lalbagh Police Station, said that Ilias Mia, 30, set his bike on fire out of anger as a sergeant fined him for traffic rule violation.
After being fined, he drove to Kataban from Palashi and burned it around 2:45pm.
He was fined twice earlier, the OC added.

The OC informed, a police team rushed to the spot to talk to Ilias.
He said the man came to Dhaka a month ago and took up ride-sharing as a job after suffering heavy losses in business during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier on September 27, another biker, Shawkat Ali, set his motorcycle on fire after a traffic sergeant "attempted to file a case" in Dhaka's Badda area.

Angry ride-sharing biker sets bike on fire in Dhaka
A ride-sharing biker set fire to his bike as a traffic police ‘attempted to fine him’ on Badda-Gulshan link road in the capital on Monday.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am when Shawkat Hossain, 40,was waiting on the road near Janata Insurance building with others for customers.

Traffic sergeant Debopriya went to Shawkat and sought papers from him to check those.
At one stage, Shawkat got furious and set his bike afire.
When local people tried to extinguish the blaze, he obstructed them.

Later, he was taken to Badda Police Station where Shawkat said that he was depressed as he had suffered huge losses in business due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Then he got engaged in ride-sharing service to survive, said assistant commissioner of Traffic (Badda zone) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Subir Chandra Das.
