SSC, equivalent exam results 2023: Girls outshine boys
Girls have outperformed boys in this year's SSC and equivalent exams, similar to that last year.
A total of 20,41,450 students -- 10,31,647 female and 10,09,803 male -- appeared for this year's exams.

Among them, the pass rate for female students is 81.88 percent. Meanwhile, 78.87 percent of male candidates have cleared the tests.
Girls outperformed boys in terms of GPA grades as well.

Out of 1,83,578 students who obtained GPA-5 in this year’s SSC and equivalent exams, 98,614 are female students and 84,964 are male.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced the results at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute at Segunbagicha in the capital on Friday.

No students from 48 educational institutions passed SSC this year
No students from 48 educational institutions passed this year’s SSC exams. Last year, that number was 50.
On the other hand, the number of educational institutions that have 100 percent pass rate has decreased. This time, all students of 2,354 educational institutions have passed. Last year, that number was 2,975.

The average pass rate of SSC and equivalent exams this year is 80.39 percent. The average pass rate of the country's nine general education boards is 80.94 percent. The average pass rate of madrasa education board is 74.70 percent and the pass rate of technical education board is 86.35 percent.

SSC, equivalent exam results 2023: Avg pass rate 80.39%
Around 80.39 percent of students have passed this year's SSC and equivalent examinations — 7.05% lower than last year’s pass rate.
Of the 20,72,163 students who appeared for this year’s SSC and equivalent exams, a total of 16,41,140 — 7,96,404 male and 8,44,736 female students — passed.

A total of 1,83,578 students have obtained GPA-5 — 86,024 less than last year. Among them, 84,964 are male students and 98,614 female.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni presented the summary of the results of SSC and equivalent examinations in front of journalists at the International Mother Language Institute at Segunbagicha in Dhaka today.

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury and chairmen of the education boards were present on the occasion.
Earlier today, the education minister handed over the summary of the 2023 SSC and equivalent exams result to Prime Minister Shikh Hasina at the PMO.
The average pass rate of 9 general education boards in the country is 80.94 percent. A total of 13,22,446 students have passed. A total of 1,59,220 students got GPA-5.

On the other hand, the pass rate of Madrasa education board is 74.70 percent. A total of 6,213 students have obtained GPA-5.
The pass rate of the technical education board is 86.35 percent. A total of 18,145 students obtained GPA-5.
Students of 29,798 institutions under 11 education boards, including nine general education boards, took part in this year's examination at 3,810 centers.

SSC results handed over to PM
The result statistics of this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations across Bangladesh were handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday morning.
Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the combined result statistics of the SSC and equivalent examinations to the PM at the latter’s official residence Ganabhaban.

Later, the chairmen of 11 education boards—nine general, one madrasa and one technical—handed over the result statistics of their respective boards to the premier.
The prime minister published the result of SSC and its equivalent examination-2023, which will be available at the respective educational institutions and online from 10:30am.

Students can see their results on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd by entering their roll and registration number.
Besides, they can also get the results by sending an SMS to 16222. In that case they will have to type SSC<>first three letters of the name of the education board<>roll number<>exam year in the message option of the mobile phone and send that to 16222. For example, a student will have to write SSC<>DHA<>ROLL<>YEAR. The results will be sent in answer to the message.

Some 20, 78,216 students—10,24,980 boys and 10,53,246 girls—under the 11 education boards appeared for the SSC and equivalent examinations in 2023. The theoretical exams were held on April 30-May 23, 2023.
Education Minister Dipu Moni and Deputy Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury spoke at the function moderated by Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Suleman Khan.

IUBAT's 7th Convocation held at BBCFEC
The seventh convocation of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) was held at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BBCFEC), Dhaka on Tuesday.
Bachelor’s and master’s degrees were conferred to over 2,500 qualified students on the day. Graduation was conferred in the agriculture, business, electrical and electronic, civil, computer, mechanical, economics, tourism and hospitality, and nursing.

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP, presided over the convocation and conferred degrees as the representative of the honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The convocation speaker was Prof Kakha Shengelia, president of Caucasus University, Georgia and chairman of the Board of International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), USA. Dr Youngmin Seo, first secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh was present as special guest on the occasion.

Zubier Alim, chairman of IUBAT Board of Trustees highlighted the history and achievements of none-government universities in Bangladesh that was paved by establishment of IUBAT. The deputy education minister praised the ranking of IUBAT in different global rankings including Times Higher Education Impact Ranking and QS World University Rankings. He advised the students to continue to pursue knowledge and skills for the wellbeing of mankind.
Convocation Speaker Kakha Shengelia stated that IUBAT stands as a beacon of excellence in higher education, producing graduates who have made remarkable contributions nationally and internationally. He added that Bangladesh’s investment in education reflects the potential of the youth.

Address of welcome was offered by IUBAT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdur Rab and Treasurer Prof. Selina Nargis offered the Vote of Thanks. In the address of welcome, Vice-Chancellor Dr Rab highlighted the university theme of producing at least one professional graduate from each village of Bangladesh and appraised about the achievements and success of graduates in job and entrepreneurial activities.
IUBAT was established in 1991 by Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan who was a professor of Dhaka University and director of Dhaka University's Institute of Business Administration.

Grand opening ceremony of National STEAM Olympiad on Sunday
The grand opening ceremony of the National STEAM Olympiad 2023 will be held at 3pm on Sunday at the auditorium of International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka.
The National STEM Olympiad will bring together students from six levels across Bangladesh to showcase their exceptional talent in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
Education Minister and chief patron of the programme Dipu Moni will inaugurate the event as the chief guest.
Former national cricket team captain and memberof parliament Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, national football team captain Jamal Bhuiyan and one of the players of female national team Krishna Rani Sarkar have become the brand ambassadors of the event.
National STEAM Olympiad convenor and chief advisor UGC member Professor Dr. Sazzad Hossain will preside over the event.
Chief coordinator of the olympiad Mohammad Abdul Hamid said, “The Olympiad will mark a new journey where students of all levels will have an opportunity to showcase their innovative projects, problem-solving abilities and expertise in various STEAM subjects. This platform not only encourages academic learning but also competition, creativity and intellectual spirit.”

JDS Master 22nd and PhD. 6th Batch gears up for studying in Japan
A send-off ceremony was arranged for the 22nd JDS (Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship) Master Batch and 6th JDS PhD Batch on Wednesday night (July 19, 2023).
According to a press release, the JDS project supports human resource development by offering young government employees with scholarships for graduate degrees in top Japanese universities. The project is part of the Grant Aid scheme that works under a government-to-government framework.

The participants in the project are expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation by purposefully engaging in policy formation and execution when they accomplish the program and return to their home nation.
525 Bangladeshi government officials have received JDS Scholarships since 2002, added the release.
Through the project, the young leaders also gain the opportunity to understand Japanese society and common interests and goals for work. The programme creates a system where academic exchanges become a tool for strengthening international relations.

Shehzeen Samarah Hussain obtains PhD
Shehzeen Samarah Hussain, a former student of Scholastica School, has achieved a momentous academic feat by becoming one of the few Bangladeshi women to be awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the esteemed University of California San Diego, USA.
She earned her PhD on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Computer Engineering.
Academic and Research Experiences:
She worked as research assistant under Professor Farinaz Koushanfar, University of California San Diego.
Her other works include as research intern on Deep Learning at NVIDIA Corporation, Santa Clara, CA, audio R&D Research Intern in Qualcomm Technologies Inc., San Diego, CA.
The work as Machine Learning Intern in Intel Corporation, Santa Clara, CA, Deep Learning R&D Intern at Qualcomm Technologies Inc., San Diego CA and Process Engineer in Global Foundries, Malta NY enriched her.

IDP Education Bangladesh to host UK and USA Education Roadshow in Dhaka

Not possible to nationalise private educational institutions before national polls: Dipu Moni
It is not possible to nationalise private educational institutions before the upcoming parliamentary elections, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Wednesday.
She said this during a meeting with the protesting teachers and leaders of other teachers' organisations at the International Mother Language Institute at Segunbagicha in the capital on Wednesday.

The minister at the time also urged the protesting teachers to stop the programme and return to class.
“It is not possible to nationalise private educational institutions before the upcoming parliamentary elections. They (private teachers) make such demands as soon as the election season comes. Considering the global financial situation, it is not possible for the government to shoulder such a huge financial responsibility now,” said the minister.

"But we will form two committees on nationalisation of private educational institutions in the country. The two committees formed will examine the nationalisation feasibility of private schools in the country. One of the committees will examine financial feasibility and the other will examine institutional capacity,” she added.
