A woman died and two others were injured after a speedboat and a troller collided in the Maini river in Rangamati’s Langdu upazila.
The accident occurred after 11 a.m. on Tuesday near the Madhuachara area.
According to locals, the speedboat, carrying 13 passengers, left Maini Ghat at 11 a.m. and collided with a trawler at Madhuachara.
The deceased was identified as Mamata Begum, 35, a resident of the upazila’s Sonai no.5 area.
Akib Osman, upazila nirbahi officer of Langdu, said locals rescued and rushed her to Langdu Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
An eight-year-old boy, Salman, and a 60-year-old man, Kabir Hossain, were seriously injured.
They were sent to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
