A 78-year-old farmer was killed and 11 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over harvesting jute from a disputed land in Sadar upazila of Narail on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Radha Pallav Biswas, a resident of Devbhog village under Sheikhhati union of the upazila.
Locals said there had long been a dispute between Radha Pallav and his neighbour Salam Sheikh over ownership of a piece of land in the village.

On Wednesday noon, a clash broke out between supporters of the two when Salam Sheikh and his followers went to the land to harvest jute.
The clash left Radha dead on the spot and 11 others critically injured, they said, adding that the injured are undergoing treatment at Narail Sadar Hospital.
Obaidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said they are aware of the incident but no case has been filed yet.
