“Abir, son of an expatriate, from Purbo Joara of Chandnaish upazila, left the hospital around 5pm,” said Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.
The boy and his mother were tested twice and their results came negative on both occasions before the child was released.
“Abir is fully well now after 11 days of treatment,” the doctor said.
The mother was asked to keep his son in 14-day home quarantine, he added.
Earlier on March 21, the toddler was hospitalised after he tested positive, said Dr Ashim Kumar Nath, superintendent of Chattogram General Hospital.
It is unclear how the boy became infected.
Ruma Akhter, the baby’s mother, said her husband is living abroad for the last one year. “None of our family members are suffering from coronavirus. I did not allow anyone from the outside to touch my son,” she said.
Civil Surgeon office sources said 20 people fully recovered from coronavirus and went home in the district.
According to data from Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), altogether 78 people tested positive for coronavirus and two died from it.
