Ten security personnel of the Padma Bridge rail link project were held on Friday for allegedly beating an autorickshaw driver to death.
The deceased was identified as Julhas Hawladar (35).
According to witnesses, they brutally beat Julhas till he passed his last breath after accusing him of theft at around 6 am on Friday.
His hands and legs were tied up during this time, leaving him defenceless.
The incident took place under the 3rd and 4th pillars of the Padma Bridge Railway at Kumarbhog Union in Louhajang of Munshiganj.
Finding out about the incident, Md Selim, the shift manager of the guards informed the family members of Julhas.
They immediately came to the spot and took him to a local medical facility first and then to YEASMIN DALUAR HOSPITAL of the area following deterioration of his condition.
Unfortunately, there was no doctor available at the facility and they had to drag the body of Julhas to Srinagar Government Hospital, where the on duty doctor declared him dead.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital Morgue for autopsy, reported our correspondent citing sources within the hospital.

The victim's wife Jasmine Akhter has filed a murder case with the Louhajang police station, the correspondent added.
Meanwhile, a team of police immediately reached the crime scene upon receiving the news and held seven guards initially and later detained three more.
Seven of the 10 held have been identified as Selim, Rabbi, Tapu, Al-Amin, Arif, Abdul Mannan, and Israfil.
Police are currently interrogating the detainees.
The aforementioned information was confirmed by multiple sources with the law enforcement agency including Additional Assistant Superintendent of Police (Srinagar Circle) Asaduzzaman Louhajang police officer in charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain and Munshiganj Superintendent of Police Abdul Momen.
Relatives of the slain Julhas Hawladar, a resident of the Padma Bridge Rehabilitation Center at Kumarbhoge in Munshiganj's Louhajong Upazila, have been left in a state of shock. Relatives claim he was summoned and killed in a premeditated manner.
Besides, tension is running high in the area over the incident.
Locals expressed outrage and said, "How did this happen if the army regularly patrols the area? We strongly condemn it.”
They also demanded immediate punishment of the accused.
