Customs officials seized two gold bars, weighing a total of 100 grammes, from an outbound passenger at the Benapole International Check Post.
The seizure was made around 6:00pm on Wednesday after customs officials, acting on a tip-off, intensified surveillance in the passenger departure area of the check post, according to a customs statement.
The passenger, identified as Md Mobarak Hossain, was stopped on suspicion while preparing to cross into India.
During initial questioning, he admitted that he was carrying two gold bars weighing 50 grammes each.
