Taqi Mancha has vowed to continue its fight for justice, twelve years after the brutal murder of Tanvir Muhammad Taqi.
On Thursday, Taqi Mancha organised a Milad Mahfil to mark the 12th anniversary of Taqi's murder. Leaders from various civic, political, social, and cultural organizations paid tribute to him by laying wreaths at his grave.
Speakers expressed their anger that the trial of the murder has yet to begin, despite the long passage of time.
They also emphasised their determination to continue the movement on the streets until justice is served for this heinous crime.
Bhabani Shankar Roy, former president of Narayanganj Sangkristi Jote, said, "In 2013, the talented teenager Tanvir Muhammad Taqi was brutally murdered after being kidnapped. Even after 12 years, the murder has not been tried."
He further added, "For the past 11 years, the proceedings of the murder case were halted by the directives of the fascist Awami League government. After the fall of the AL on August 5 last year, we were hopeful that the case would gain momentum again, especially after six new arrests were made."
However, shortly after, the progress of the case seemed to slow down once more.
"We hope the investigating agency will quickly submit the charge sheet and push the trial forward," he added.
Taqi, 17, a meritorious boy went missing after leaving his Shaista Khan Road home on March 6, 2013.
