A total of 2,741 nomination forms have been submitted for the 300 parliamentary seats in the upcoming 12th National Election, which is scheduled to be held on January 7 next year.
Shariful Alam, Director of the Election Commission (Public Reactions), shared this information with the media on Thursday.

Among the 44 registered political parties, candidates from 30 parties submitted nomination forms. Notably, 14 parties, including BNP, opted not to participate in the polls.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the 12th parliamentary elections expired at 4:00 pm on Thursday.

The nomination papers will undergo scrutiny on December 1-4, and candidates can withdraw their candidatures until December 17.
The 12th parliamentary election is scheduled for January 7, 2024 (Sunday), according to the poll schedule announced by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal on November 15.

Appeals against the decisions of the returning officers will be received and disposed of on December 5–15. Electoral symbols will be distributed among the candidates on December 18.
