The Nationalist ICT Forum has expelled 13 of its executive committee members over various allegations, including violation of the organisation's discipline and engagement in activities deemed detrimental to the organisation.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Forum held on Tuesday, according to a press release, signed by its acting General Secretary Md Mamun Or Rashid.
It said members present at the meeting unanimously approved the expulsion of the 13 individuals.
Following recommendations from the advisory council and a review and verification process, organisational action was taken against the members, the release said, adding that evidence has been found indicating that some of those expelled had acted as spies, among other activities considered harmful to the organisation.
These also include engaging in activities contrary to its policies, displaying discourteous behaviour towards senior leaders, and misusing the organisation's name and designation for activities deemed detrimental to it.
The expelled members are: Advisers Prof Shah J Mia and Abbas Faruk, General Secretary Rowshan Kamal James, Vice President Md Samiul Islam, Joint General Secretary Rokonuzzaman Rony, Office Secretary Engr Md Jewel, Finance Secretary Nauyid Hossain, Cultural Affairs Secretary Shamim Azad, Training Secretary Tapit Hasan Chowdhury, Social Welfare Secretary Md Al-Mamun, Legal Affairs Secretary Saimum Reza Talukdar, and Members Reyad Hasnain and Maksud Hossain.
The organisation said the decision takes immediate effect and was made in the interest of maintaining organisational discipline, unity and a conducive environment for its activities.
