People struggled to reach their destinations in the rain that led to water stagnation and traffic congestion in parts of the city. Office and school goers suffered the most.
Fifteen millimeters of rainfall was recorded between 6am and 9am, said Ruhul Kuddus, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The rain may continue till Thursday, he said.
In its Tuesday’s forecast, the Met office said a westerly low lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining southwestern part of Bangladesh extending its trough to North Bay.
It predicted rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind, in parts of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places and hails at isolated places.
