Detective Branch (DB) of Police have arrested two alleged members of a poaching syndicate along with eight capped langurs from Dhaka’s Jatrabari area.
The arrestees were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 43, and Rabiul Islam Shohagh, 30.
Tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive at Kajla Bridge in Jatrabari area around 5 am today and arrested them along with the capped langurs.

After primary interrogation, it was learnt that the arrestees collected the langurs from the Chittagong Hill districts and were heading towards Satkhira.
Later, they were produced before a mobile court on Wednesday and the court sentenced them to 21 days jail. The court also fined them Tk 6,000.

The rescued capped langurs were handed over to the Forest Department.
