Two people were burnt to death and ten were injured as an oil tanker overturned and several vehicles caught fire on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar on Tuesday morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 45 while identity of the other deceased could not be known yet.
The eight injured were identified as Milon Molla, 22, Al-Amin, 35, Nironjan, 45, Helal, 30, Abdus Salam, 35, Sakib, 24, Md Al Amin, 22, and Mim, 10.

Of them, Helal and Sakib sustained 100 percent burn injuries, Milon 45 percent, Mim 20 percent, Al Amin 10 percent, Nironjan 8 percent, Abdus Salam 5 percent and Md Al Amin 15 percent respectively.
They are undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said the institute’s resident surgeon Dr Md Tarikul lslam, adding that Nazrul succumbed to his injuries upon arrival there.
Witnesses said the oil tanker overturned and caught fire when it hit a road island on the Aricha-bound lane in Jordpul area around 5:35 am.
The fire spread fast engulfing a private car, one cement-laden truck, one watermelon carrying truck and a lorry.
On information, five firefighting units from Savar and Hemayetpur rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, said Savar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Master Nurul Islam.
Dhaka district’s Traffic Inspector (Admin) Shahidul Islam said vehicular movement resumed around 9 am, three hours after the damaged vehicles were removed.

Earlier, vehicles were seen stuck on both sides of the highway due to the incident, he added.
Savar Model Police Station OC Zaman said, "after the incident police visited the spot".
