Two farmers were killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district on Wednesday.
Mamun Islam, 30, son of Khadimul Islam of the Sonahar Malchandi Paschim Telipara area, was killed after being struck by lightning while cutting jute during rain at around 11:40 am, said Ashraful Islam Emu, chairman of Sadar Union in the upazila.
In another incident, Akabbor Khan, 60, of the Shimultoli area under Dandapal Union, was killed after being struck by lightning while working in his field, said Chairman Ashraful.
Both were taken to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.
