The government on Sunday allocated separate responsibilities between the two State Ministers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the freshly conferred Humaiun Kobir and Shama Obaed Islam, who was sworn in on the day has served since the start of the BNP government’s tenure - to assist Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman in carrying out the ministry's functions under his direction and supervision.
Humaiun Kobir, designated as State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1, will deal with bilateral and multilateral affairs, issues concerning non-resident Bangladeshis, and any other matters assigned by the foreign minister, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shama Obaed Islam, designated as State Minister for Foreign AffQAairs-2, will oversee matters related to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, human rights, research and innovation, environment and climate change, creative economy, and Bangladesh's graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category.
h11responsibilities will also include information and communication technology (ICT), law of the sea and marine resources, global health diplomacy, and cultural and sports diplomacy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a circular on Sunday allocating the responsibilities.
The distribution of responsibilities received the approval of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, read the circular.
