The injured--Rajib Hossain of Computer Science department, Subrata Roy and Rabbi of Management Studies department—were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said Rajib Hossain, a supporter of BCL general secretary Nobel Sheikh, locked into an altercation with Subrata Roy and Rabbi, both followers of former BCL central committee member Foysal Azam Fahin, over stalking a female student of the university.
As the news spread in the campus, the leaders and activists of both the group swooped on each other around 9 pm leaving the three injured, they said.
The condition of Rajib was reported critical, said Sub-inspector Muhibul Islam of the university police outpost.
Meanwhile, Proctor Farid–ul–Islam said that administrative steps would be taken after an investigation on the incident of stalking.
