A Joypurhat court on Monday sentenced three people including two brothers to death in a case involving the killing of a man during a robbery in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat district in 2007.
The court of Joypurhat Additional Sessions Judge-2 Abbas Uddin also fined Tk 10,000 to each of the convicts under a section of the penal code.

Under another section, each of the convicts was given 10 more years’ of imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000. The court delivered the judgment in absence of the accused, the court’s public prosecutor Advocate Niprendranath Mandal said.
The death-row convicts are brothers Jafu alias Yearob Hossain and Aminul Islam Riadul from Sadar upazila of the district and Lutfor Rahman from Panchbibi upazila of the same district.

According to the case statement, the miscreants entered the house of one Mujibur Rahman at Paschim Parulia village under the Sadar upazila at dead of night on December 17, 2007.
The miscreants stabbed the victim and looted Tk 50, 000 in cash from the house, leaving him critically injured. Later he succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
The victim’s son Abdur Razzaque filed a murder case two days after the incident.

After completing all legal procedures, the court handed down the judgment in this regard.
