A 36-member national committee has been formed to oversee the observance of mass uprising days in July and August, marking the anniversary of last year's student-led movement.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will serve as the chairperson of the committee while Farooq E Azam, adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, will act as the co-chairperson.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has been appointed as the programme coordinator.
The other members of the committee are: Finance and Science and Technology Adviser, Planning Adviser, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser, Foreign Affairs Adviser, Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser, Industry and Housing and Public Works Adviser, Food and Land Adviser, Education Adviser, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and Road Transport and Bridges and Railways Adviser, Environment Adviser, Youth and Sports and Local Government Adviser, Shipping Adviser, Health and Family Welfare Adviser, Primary and Mass Education Adviser, Fisheries and Livestock Adviser, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser, Religious Affairs Adviser, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser, Commerce Adviser, Information and Broadcasting Adviser, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Ali Riaz, and commission members Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumdar, Justice Emdadul Haque, and Iftekharuzzaman, Cabinet Secretary, Army Chief, Navy Chief, Air Chief, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (Finance Division) and Foreign Secretary.
The 36-day long programme will be celebrated from July 1 to August 5 to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising.
It will begin with prayers and memorial services in mosques, temples, pagodas, churches, and other places of worship in remembrance of the martyrs.
