Cumilla, Oct 20 (UNB) – Police recovered the body of a third grader, suspected to have been strangled to death, from Champaknagar village in the Sadar Upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Rifat, 10, son of Alamgir Hossain of the area.
Rifat’s mother Jesmin Aktar said he had gone to a neighbour’s house for receiving private tuition in the evening and did not return.
His body was found in a ditch after hours of frantic search. He was taken to the Sadar Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Anwarul Haque said the child might have been strangled to death or died after being hit in the throat.
The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he said.
