Police in a drive arrested four more people from Adabor area of the capital early Tuesday in connection with their suspected involvement in an attack on a house in Shyamoli Housing area.
The arrestees were s Rajib Hawladar, 30, Sagar alias Choto Bigar, 24, Shakib, 23 and Rashed, 24.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2:05 am and arrested them from Khalpar area adjacent to the Nobodoy Housing Kitchen Market area, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Akhter Hossain.
The attackers tried to attack police in a bid to avoid arrest, forcing police to fire shot guns targeting them.
Rajib and Sagor suffered bullet injuries during the firing and they were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, said Akhter Hossain.
Among the arrestees, Rajib was the prime accused in Babu murder case in Mohammadpur area while Sagor was wanted in eight cases with Adabor and Mohammadpur Police Sations.
Police also recovered three sharp weapons including a machete from their possession.
With these, a total of ten people have been arrested so far in this connection.
A group of 15-20 masked men, equipped with local weapons and firearms, attacked a building in the Shyamoli Housing area around 6:30am on Saturday.
They also attempted to enter the building forcibly and hacked at the main gate with machetes, damaging the doors and windows, said police.
There had been a longstanding dispute between two groups over ownership of the building and the attack was carried out over the issue, police said.
A case was filed with Adabor Police Station.
