Four wards under Cumilla City Corporation went under complete lockdown from Saturday midnight due to alarming rise in coronavirus cases.
The lockdown enforced in Ward No 3, 10, 12 and 13 will remain in force until July 3.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting, held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner on Tuesday.
On the first day of the lockdown, shops remained closed in the areas since morning.
However, groceries and pharmacies will remain open in the lockdown areas.
According to Cumilla civil surgeon office, so far 2,378 people were infected with coronavirus and 697 people made recovery till Thursday.
Besides, the district reported 66 deaths from coronavirus till the period.
