Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 42 people for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs during its ongoing anti-narcotic drive in the capital in the last 24 hours till 6am on Friday.
The Detective Branch (DB) and local police stations under the DMP carried out separate drives starting from 6am on Thursday.
During the drives, police recovered 880 Yaba tablets, 12 small packets containing 52 grams of heroin, 515 grams of hemp, 900 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and 35 ampules of sedatives from their possession, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A total of 28 cases were filed with police stations concerned under Narcotics Control Act, he said.
