A case was filed accusing 42 identified individuals including BNP-backed former lawmaker Mosharraf Hossain and some unidentified people on charge of attack on a motorcade of former lawmaker and current independent candidate for Bogura-4 (Kahaloo and Nandigram upazilas) Dr Ziaul Haque Mollah in the 12th national parliamentary elections scheduled for January 7.

The independent candidate filed the case against them with Kahaloo police station on Tuesday night.
Police, however, have so far arrested five BNP supporters in this connection, confirmed Kahaloo police station’s Officer-in-charge Selim Reza.
The arrestees were identified as Aftab, 35, Julfiqar Ali Rony, 29, Towhidur Rahman Pintu, 43, Ruhul Amin alias Malek, 43, and Shishir Rahman, 24, hailing from several areas of Kahaloo upazila.

On Monday afternoon, the supporters of the independent candidate came under attack allegedly by the fellows of the former lawmaker Mosharraf Hossain when they were carrying out electoral campaigns with a motorcade in Tindighi area under Kahaloo upazila.
