A total of 445 shelters have been identified in the two city corporations of Dhaka to address potential earthquake emergencies, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said on Thursday.
A total of 445 shelters have been designated in Dhaka North and South to support residents during earthquake, the minister told reporters after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at Secretariat.
The government is considering incorporating disaster awareness into the national education curriculum and teachers will be brought under training programmes as part of the initiative, he added.
The minister said a preliminary list of 1,45,000 volunteers from different agencies has been prepared to help manage post-earthquake situation.
