Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 5.59 lakh Indian bidis and an engine-powered boat in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj early Sunday.
However, no one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
BGB-16 Naogaon Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum said a patrol team of Charaldanga Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a drive in the Barobeel area of the upazila around 3:30am.
Sensing the presence of the BGB team, smugglers abandoned an engine-powered boat and fled the scene, he said.
Later, BGB members searched the boat and seized 5.59 lakh Indian bidis.
The seized goods were handed over to Gomostapur Police Station, the BGB official said.
