The decision was taken at the 44th meeting of the Crisis Management Core Committee held at the conference room of the ministry with State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian in the chair.
At the meeting, acting Labour and Employment Secretary KM Ali Azam urged factory owners to pay workers’ wages and bonus before the Eid vacation.
He said 64 teams formed with officials of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments will monitor whether wages and Eid bonus are paid on time in heavy industrial areas.
If any problem is created over the payment anywhere, the teams will resolve it through discussions with the owners, workers and administration, said the acting secretary.
As per the decision of BGMEA, the Eid vacation will be on August 11-17 for workers in Gazipur while on 11-18 August for those in Ashulia, Savar, Hemayetpur and Manikganj.
Director General of Industrial Police Abdus Salam, additional secretaries of the ministry Dr Rezaul Haque and Dr Mollah Jalal Uddin, Director General of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Shibnath Ray were, among others, present.
