A Mymensingh court on Thursday sentenced seven people to life imprisonment for killing a man in Mymensingh's Gouripur upazila in 2006.
They are- Abdul Qaddus, Tara Mia, Hadis Mia, Abu Bakr, Atiullah, Matiur Rahman Moti and Fakar Uddin.
Judge Sabrina Ali of Mymensingh's Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 handed down the verdict around 4:30 pm, said Mosharraf Hossain, bench assistant at the court.
Three defendants were acquitted as the allegation brought against them could not be proved, he said.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
According to the case, Rajab Ali, a resident of Bahertola area of Gouripur upazila, was killed in an attack by rivals over a land dispute on October 12, 2006.
A case was filed against 11 people following a complaint lodged by the victim's son Harun-or-Rashid the next day.
Later, one of the accused died.
