Eight people suffered burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a steel mill in Shyampur area of the capital on Wednesday.
The injured were identified as Hira, 35, Manik, 45, Rajib Ali, 29, Arshad, 45, Khalilur Rahman, 56, Md Liton, 32, Matiur Rahman, 22 and Yusuf, 40.
The explosion occurred around 10 am at the RS Steel Mill when the boiler of the mill exploded with a big bang, leaving eight people injured.
The injured were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the institute.
Among the injured, Hira received 17 percent injuries while Manik 40 percent, Rajib Ali four percent, Arshad 11 percent, Khalilur Rahman nine percent, Liton 7 percent, Matiur Rahman w10 percent and Yusuf five percent injures, he said.
Six injured victims were given first aid while Manik and Hira were kept under observation.
